Centre for Disaster Management Studies

Centre for Disaster Management Studies (CDMS Nepal) is a women-led national resource center committed to building disaster-resilient communities across Nepal and South Asia. Established in 2007 by a group of visionary professionals, CDMS has grown into a leading voice in inclusive disaster risk reduction, climate adaptation, and community empowerment.

We work at the intersection of policy, practice, and innovation, bridging grassroots realities with national and global frameworks. Our programs span the full spectrum of disaster and climate resilience—from prevention and mitigation, through preparedness and response, to recovery and rehabilitation. We integrate climate change adaptation, natural resource management, and contemporary socio-economic issues into every layer of our work.

CDMS is known for its action research, technology dissemination, and capacity building—mobilizing women, youth, Dalits, and persons with disabilities to lead transformative change. Through platforms like WHDRRP and the Climate Fellowship, we amplify marginalized voices in governance and planning. Our advocacy has helped institutionalize Local Disaster and Climate Resilient Plans (LDCRPs) and mainstream GEDSI principles across Nepal’s DRRM landscape.

Whether responding to crises or shaping policy, CDMS remains grounded in its core belief: that resilience begins with dignity, equity, and inclusive leadership.
