Women’s Leadership in Action – WHDRRP Sudurpashchim, Nepal 🌿
On 7–8 December 2025, a two-day capacity-building workshop was successfully conducted in Dhangadhi, Sudurpashchim Province, under the coordination of Women’s Humanitarian Disaster Risk Reduction Platform (WHDRRP) Sudurpashchim. The workshop was organized by the Dalit Women Rights Forum (DWRF)—Secretariat of WHDRRP Sudurpashchim—with generous support from DanChurchAid (DCA).
The workshop aimed to strengthen women’s leadership and collective action in humanitarian response, disaster risk reduction, and climate resilience. It served as an inclusive space for learning, dialogue, and solidarity, bringing together 37 participants from women-led organizations, community groups, media, Girls’ Networks, climate champions, Community Forest User Groups, women environmental and human rights defenders, and LGBTQI representatives.
Key outcomes of the workshop included:
- Strengthened multi-stakeholder coordination at the provincial level
- Enhanced understanding of DRRM and GEDSI concepts, along with relevant local policies and practices
- A dynamic panel discussion and role-play on challenges and opportunities for women’s leadership
- Formation of an 11-member WHDRRP Sudurpashchim Executive Committee, chaired by Ms. Sabitra Ghimire (DWRF)
- Development of a shared provincial action plan to advance inclusive humanitarian action, DRR, and climate resilience

The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Krishna Karkee (Founder-Coordinator of WHDRRP) and Ms. Indu Pant Ghimire (Founder & Advisor, WHDRRP), fostering meaningful engagement and practical learning throughout the two days.
Held during the global campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence,” the workshop also highlighted the importance of women’s leadership in addressing both offline and digital forms of GBV within crisis and climate contexts.
WHDRRP extends sincere appreciation to DWRF, DanChurchAid (DCA), CDMS, and all participants for their active contributions, leadership, and commitment. The collective efforts demonstrated during this workshop mark an important step toward building inclusive, resilient, and climate-responsive communities in Sudurpashchim Province.
